The department's mission is to employ expert technicians who are knowledgeable about the raw materials, weaving techniques, and conservation and repair methods of traditional textile materials; who have the technical equipment necessary for the sustainability of the cultural structure; and who can work in the field of museums and repairs.
The department's vision is to establish a central infrastructure in Sultanhanı, known as the "Carpet Restoration Center of the World," that carries out education, research, and application activities at international standards in the field of preservation, repair, and reproduction of traditional textile products, especially Turkish carpets, which are considered cultural heritage.
